The Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) through its air operations division has taken steps to coordinate the operations of air security forces in the Eastern Sabah Security Zone.
Esscom air operations division chief of staff Brig Gen Ayub Khan Mohamad Khan said this was to strengthen security in the Esszone by firming up the air monitoring and surveillance aspects, particularly in areas suspected of being the routes and staging points of cross-border crimes, including kidnappings.
"The move is important so that all aviation agencies including from the flight squadron detachment, which is directly involved in air operations at Esszone, know the roles and strategies adopted by Esscom in monitoring the waters of Sabah from any cross-border crime threats.
‘’This is all about finding a common point for establishing uniformity of air operation implementation involving various air safety agencies in Esszone," he said in a statement today.
