Ex-minister Zam admitted to ICU after breathing difficulty

Former information minister Zainuddin Maidin has been admitted into the intensive care unit (ICU) at Hospital Putrajaya today.

His brother Lazam Maidin told Malaysiakini that Zainuddin was sent to the hospital last night after he complained about breathing difficulty, and he was later transferred to the ICU this morning.

"He did not faint, he did not fall, he did not suffer any heart attack or anything like that.

"He felt difficulty in breathing, so his kids brought him to the hospital, and the doctors found fluid in his lungs," he said when contacted.

Zainuddin, Lazam added, is still in the ICU as he is very weak but in a stable condition now.

However, it is not advisable to visit the 79-year-old right now, he said.

Lazam added that his brother does not have any prior history of a heart attack.  - Mkini
