Guan Eng demands apology from G3

Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng has urged a new coalition known as "Gagasan Kuasa 3" (G3) to apologise and retract their allegations that he had diverted funds meant for Malay students to temples.
He said the inflammatory speech during G3's launch yesterday is untrue but the video recording of it has been widely circulated. He said he has received advice from lawyers to seek an apology.
"I don't know their names. I urge them to show proof (of their claims, or) withdraw (those comments) and apologise. Or else, I will take legal action," he told reporters at the parliament lobby today.
He said a police report would be lodged over the speech because it was evident that this was an attempt to stir ethnic tension.
"It is very dangerous because they want to incite (the public) to increase the turnout during the Dec 8 rally to meet their own agendas... This is dangerous. There would be no problems if it was a peaceful protest," he said.
During the launch yesterday, G3 claimed that Putrajaya's intention to ratify the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (Icerd) was part of DAP's agenda to remove constitutional provisions concerning Islam, Malays, bumiputera and the Malay rulers.
It is understood that Lim was referring to a widely circulated 2:39-minute video clip depicting Azwanddin Hamzah addressing a crowd before the launch.
A group known as Ummah has pledged to gather at least 500,000 people in Kuala Lumpur on Dec 8 in protest against the ratification of Icerd.  - Mkini
