‘HUGE EXODUS’ FROM WARISAN & UMNO INTO JEFFREY’S STAR PARTY SOON, SAYS JEFFREY IN ANTICIPATION COURT TO DECLARE MUSA AMAN ‘RIGHTFUL CM’ OF SABAH AGAINST SHAFIE TOMORROW DESPITE CORRUPTION CHARGES

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah opposition chief Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan is expecting a significant number of crossovers from various political parties to Parti Solidariti Sabah (STAR Sabah) soon.
The STAR Sabah president claimed that these would include members and leaders from the current government parties.
“Our numbers are growing now and we have to amend our party constitution and expand from 29 supreme council members to 39 so that we are able to include the incoming members and leaders,” he said during a press conference here Tuesday(Nov 6).
Dr. Jeffrey said among those expected to join STAR Sabah were Sook assemblyman Datuk Ellron Angin of Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) and Upko turned independent politician, Datuk Bobbey Suan who won the Nabawan seat.
“We will also be welcoming members from Parti Warisan Sabah and Umno among others,” Dr. Jeffrey said.
He said these changes would make the party stronger and more prominent in Sabah.
Asked whether former chief minister Tan Sri Musa Aman’s corruption charge in Kuala Lumpur on Monday (Nov 5) would affect Wednesday (Nov 7)’s decision on who will be Sabah’s rightful chief minister, he said it would not.
“Musa has been charged but not convicted or disqualified, if he wins the court case on Nov 7, he still can be the chief minister,” he said adding he sees the charge as a political distraction ahead of the Nov 7 decision on Sabah’s rightful chief minister.
Dr. Jeffrey said Musa will then have to proceed to make plans for the change of politics and government in Sabah, and at the same time handle his corruption charges.
“There are bound to be transition in the government then, but whatever it is, Gabungan Bersatu Sabah (GBS) is ready to take over from the Warisan-led state government,” he said.
GBS is a yet to be registered party that includes members and leaders from former Barisan Nasional parties such as PBS, Umno, PBRS, and the then and current opposition party, STAR Sabah.
Dr. Jeffrey said court sits at 3.30pm on Wednesday and their supporters will be there.
“Whatever the decision will be, we can’t change it but we are ready to take over,” he said.
“Of course we hope and pray that it will be a smooth transition, that’s why we meet leaders at the federal level to ensure we have an understanding on political matters,” he said.
