It looks like UMNO and PAS seems to use the issue of ICERD to instill fear among the Malay community that their "rights" accorded under Article 153 will be withdrawn by agreeing to the ICERD Accord.
The PH government has unanimously decided to withdraw and not to concede with the ICERD.
Since this is the decision of our Federal government, Malays need not fear and DO NOT have to hold any rally or street demonstration to express their displeasure. The December 8 Anti-ICERD protest arranged by UMNO, PAS and some Malay NGOs should be immediately be called off. The matter is now in status quo.
Police should also be cautious and should not hesitate to arrest anyone, including Members of Parliament who are out to create chaos or instigate people against the government and other races in Malaysia for speaking on this issue. - Mohd Kamal Abdullah
