Members congratulate Akmal as the new PKR Youth leader

PKR Youth members were seen this morning congratulating Johor Bahru MP Akmal Nasir for winning as the new Youth chief of the party.
This came despite the official result not being announced yet. It is slated to be revealed by 5.25pm today, at the wing's congress that is being held in Shah Alam.
Words spread at the PKR Youth congress this morning that Akmal defeated his rival Afif Bahardin by a slim majority of less than 50 votes.
This was after the Election Committee (JPP) added on the votes derived from a 'dubious vote' cateogory.
'Dubious votes' are ballots by those who claim to be PKR members, but whose membership could not be verified in the online e-voting system.
When approached by media, both Akmal and Afif, who is also the outgoing deputy Youth chief, declined to comment.
"They may listen to the unofficial result," said Akmal, adding that the election committee would announce the result later.
He said both sides have to move on after the election and reconcile among themselves.
"We will wait for the election committee to announce the result," said Afif.
Asked whether a candidate could challenge the election result in case one side wins with a slim majority, he said, "There is an avenue within the party constitution (to do so)."
"I haven't discussed this at length because we want to settle the congress first, and then see how it goes," Afif added. - Mkini
