The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) is planning to summon former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak, former 1MDB president Arul Kanda Kandasamy, and others as part of their probe in the National Audit Department's 1MDB report.
PAC chief Ronald Kiandee, when contacted, said the PAC will first be getting statements from auditor-general Madinah Mohamad and her predecessor Ambrin Buang on Dec 4 and 5.
"The other names, including those mentioned by Madinah in her statement (on the audit being tampered with), will be decided later," he told Malaysiakini.
PAC deputy chief Wong Kah Woh, however, confirmed that Najib and Arul Kanda are on the PAC's "initial list of witnesses."
Madinah today revealed that Najib, Arul Kanda, and others were involved in the alleged tampering of the 1MDB audit report in 2016.
Others named in Madinah's statement include Ambrin, former chief secretary to the government Ali Hamsa, and Najib's former private secretary Shukry Salleh.
The PAC's fresh probe into 1MDB is limited to the audit report as for now.
This is as other aspects of the 1MDB case are already in court.
The matter of the audit report being tampered with was first raised by Wong during the Dewan Rakyat proceeding late last month.
However, Wong was light on details.
According to Madinah, parts of the audit report that were tampered included those on 1MDB's 2014 financial statement and Jho Low's attendance in a 1MDB board of directors meeting. - Mkini
