Report: BN lawmaker 'made millions' from gov't project commissions

MACC is reportedly probing a BN Member of Parliament who allegedly took commissions from RM3 billion worth of government projects under the previous administration.
The New Straits Times said that the MP, who has a "Datuk Seri" title, "made millions" by taking cuts of between eight and 10 percent on the value of each project, for which he acted as a middleman.
The MP reportedly did not hold any formal positions under the BN government.
The report said these projects were what former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak was questioned on by the MACC yesterday.
The projects in question were carried out between 2015 and just before the May 9 general election. Some of these projects are believed to be listed in the Finance Ministry's "red files".
Among others, the MACC is said to be looking into more than RM100 million used to buy ambulance vehicles, which were supplied to the Health Ministry.
Also on the anti-graft agency’s radar are road construction and upgrading projects, including a stretch of the West Coast Expressway.
Meanwhile, the MACC is also investigating several East Coast rural development projects by contractors appointed by the previous Rural and Regional Development Ministry. - Mkini
