PETALING JAYA: Rosmah Mansor, wife of former prime minister Najib Razak, is expected to face a fresh charge in court this Thursday.
According to a source with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), the charge involves the solar hybrid project for schools in Sarawak involving RM1.25 billion.
The source also said that another individual is expected to be charged. The person, said to be Rosmah’s former aide, is alleged to have solicited money from a company involved in the project to install the solar hybrid system.
There had been controversy surrounding the project, with Sarawak Report alleging in June that the contract had been awarded to a transport service company.
MACC had previously detained several individuals, including a director, a managing director and a lawyer linked to the project.
Rosmah is currently facing 12 charges of being directly involved in illegal transactions, by way of allowing RM7 million to be deposited into her bank account belonging to her and five other charges of failing to declare it to the Inland Revenue Board (IRB).
She has claimed trial to all charges. -FMT
