JOHOR BARU: Two more independent assemblymen, formerly from Umno, have joined Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).
Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Osman Sapian said that the two assemblymen who joined the party include Sedili assemblyman Rasman Ithnain and Johor Lama assemblyman Roslaily Johari.
"Both of them joined Bersatu on Nov 19," he said, after a special briefing for media bureau chiefs on the upcoming state budget here on Sunday (Nov 25).
Another state assemblyman, Alwiyah Talib from Endau, had joined Bersatu in May.
All three were formerly from Umno.
Asked if there were other assemblymen expected to join Bersatu, Osman just kept mum.
Johor has 56 state assemblymen.
Pakatan Harapan won 36 of the 56 seats in the 14th general election (GE14).
DAP won 14 state seats, followed by Amanah (nine), Bersatu (eight) and PKR (five).
With the new entries into Bersatu, the ruling Pakatan state government will have 39 assemblymen.
Umno (Barisan Nasional) is left with 16 seats while PAS holds one seat.
