Fuziah alleges SOP breach and email, FB takeover attempt during probe

Kuantan MP Fuziah Salleh had lodged a complaint with the Malaysia Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) over alleged breach of procedure after a photograph of her giving her statement to police was uploaded recently.

She also lodged a complaint about purported attempts at “taking over” her email and Facebook accounts which occurred after she handed over her phone to authorities during investigations into a recent posting involving her social media account.

In a statement, the PKR MP claimed a photograph was taken by an MCMC officer in the investigation room of the Kuantan district police headquarters on the night of April 10, as police and MCMC were conducting their probe.

She also expressed concern that the photograph was later uploaded on a ruling component party division’s Instagram account.

“However, the link (with to the alleged posting) is not accessible anymore at the time of writing of this statement [...] it was accessible yesterday, Apr 13, when the complaint was being made,” she said.

“I report my concern that a breach of (standard operating procedure) SOP occurred during questioning in which the investigations room is a restricted area, and I also complained of my concern over possible abuse of power by parties responsible over the investigations against me.

“I further complained to the MCMC on an (alleged) attempt at opening and taking over my email account, as well as the attempt to change the Facebook password on Sunday, Apr 12, after the phone had been handed to MCMC on the night the investigation on April 10,” her statement read.

She is being investigated after a video clip was uploaded on her Facebook late Thursday night allegedly depicting the Sultan Iskandar Building (CIQ Complex) in Johor Bahru turning chaotic after large crowds of Malaysians returned home from Singapore.

The CIQ Complex incident had since been denied by the Johor Immigration Department.

The Facebook page later carried a note where the page's "administrator" apologised for posting an old video clip.

The case is being investigated under Section 500 and Section 505(b) of the Penal Code for slander and causing public fear and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for the improper use of network facilities or service.

Fuziah has assured she is cooperating with authorities in the probe.
