Health DG: Ten recent overseas returnees positive for Covid-19

Malaysiakini

CORONAVIRUS | Only 10 Malaysians returning from abroad and under mandatory quarantine since April 3 have tested positive for Covid-19.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said around 15,000 people were undergoing the mandatory 14-day quarantine.
Yesterday marked the 14th day since the beginning of the mandatory quarantine imposed on Malaysians returning from abroad.
These Malaysians had to either isolate in a hotel or Institut Latihan Awam facilities.
Meanwhile, Noor Hisham said the spread of Covid-19 at Likas Hospital in Sabah involved 14 health workers.
He said the first case in this cluster could have contracted the virus at a wedding in Ipoh, Perak.
"From our investigations, the source of infection was not the ward but likely a confined space such as the pantry," he said.
Noor Hisham said those who had a history of close contact with the 14 individuals would have to undergo quarantine.
On a cluster involving a factory in Pasir Gudang, Johor, Noor Hisham said the cluster involved 10 people.
He said the health authorities took immediate action on both clusters to isolate the patients and quarantine close contacts. - Mkini
