Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has confirmed that the residents of the PKNS flat in Kampung Baru are being screened for Covid-19 after there was one death there related to the disease.
“There was one death yesterday related to the PKNS flat. Therefore we are doing our active case detection over that area, basically in the vicinity.
“Rest assured that our district health office is taking action on that,” he said in a press conference at the Health Ministry today.
Previously, the increased presence of health personnel and enforcement authorities at the PKNS flat in Kampung Baru has raised concerns about what is happening there.
Three buildings in Selangor have been put under the enhanced movement control order (MCO) – Menara City One, Selangor Mansion and Malayan Mansion – after they recorded spikes in new cases.
Noor Hisham also provided the latest numbers for multiple red zones across the country.
There are 10 new cases in Bandar Baru Ibrahim Majid, Kluang, making the total cases there 155.
In Hulu Langat, there are nine new cases today, with a total of 396 cases there.
There is one new case in Menara City One, Noor Hisham said.
Selangor Mansion has the highest number of new cases out of the places mentioned with 32 new cases today. There are now 75 total cases there.
On the other hand, both Malayan Mansion and Kg Sungai Lui have not recorded any new cases today, with their total cases remaining the same at four and 92 cases respectively.
Noor Hisham announced that there were 153 new confirmed cases today, with a total of 4,683 cases.
The total number of active cases today is 2,499 cases, and there have been three deaths today related to Covid-19, making the total death count 76 cases.
