MPKK termination of service shouldn’t be disputed – Perak MB

Malaysiakini

The termination of the Village Community Management Council (MPKK) service statewide should not be disputed as they are all political appointees.
Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu said it is normal for any political appointees to let go of their posts should there be a transition of power in the state.
“Why should it be politicised? They (political appointees) should have resigned without us terminating their service.”
Faizal said this after receiving donations of RM111,000 from Taipei Investor's Association in Perak and RM50,000 from Ladang Moccis Sdn Bhd for the state government disaster and social relief fund today.
He was responding to remarks made by several opposition representatives who criticised the state government for terminating the service of MPKK while the state and the country were fighting Covid-19.
The power transition in Perak took place when the Perikatan Nasional coalition comprising Umno, PAS and Bersatu agreed to form the new state government after getting the support from 32 out of 59 state assemblypersons.
The state was previously led by Pakatan Harapan.
In helping the MPKK chairpersons, Faizal said the state government had given a special one-off allowance of RM500 to each of them, especially those who were badly affected by the implementation of the MCO.
“This special allowance is equivalent to two and a half months of their usual allowance to help the government in channelling aid to the people.
“Their official service will end at the end of this month. If they want to stop serving the people next month, it’s up to them,” he said.
