Two PKR leaders today announced that they have been dismissed from the party.
They are PKR Youth vice-chief Mohd Nazree Mohd Yunus and Rembia assemblyperson Muhammad Jailani Khamis.
Jailani, when contacted by Malaysiakini, confirmed his dismissal letter was signed by party secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
However, Jailani said that he received two dismissal letters as the first one had an issue with the date.
He received the second letter with a correction on the date yesterday.
"The original letter had an error regarding its date, and after it went viral (on social media), I received a second one yesterday.
"The content was basically the same. I do not remember the date of the letter but I received it yesterday," said Jailani, who refused to elaborate on the letter's content.
According to the first letter that Jailani received, which was sighted by Malaysiakini, the document was dated March 16, 2020.
It stated that among the reasons for his dismissal was his support for Perikatan Nasional, attending a meeting with the coalition, and becoming a member of the PN-led Malacca state administration on March 13 under the leadership of Umno's Sulaiman Md Ali.
It was reported by Berita Harian that on March 4, Jailani said he was still a PKR member as he had never announced his resignation from the party, albeit having openly stated his support for PN.
Meanwhile, The Star reported that Nazree (photo) had expressed his shock over his dismissal.
"I was shocked upon receiving the letter. I have never expected such thing would happen to me," he said.
For the record, Nazree is a staunch supporter of former PKR Youth deputy chief Hilman Idham. Hilman is also the political secretary to former PKR deputy president Azmin Ali.
Both Hilman and Azmin were also fired from the party.
Meanwhile, Saifuddin said the party would issue a media statement about the matter soon. - Mkini
