MALAYSIA saw 153 new coronavirus cases today, bringing the total to 4,683, said Director-General of Health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
There were 113 recoveries in the last 24 hours, bringing the total patients discharged to 2,108, or 45% of the infected.
Three patients have died, taking the death toll to 76 and fatality rate to 1.62%.
Dr Noor Hisham said taking away deaths and recoveries, there are now 2,499 active Covid-19 cases which are receiving treatment in isolation.
He said 66 patients are in intensive care, 37 of them on respirators.
One of the deaths today was of a 54-year-old man who had a history of diabetes, high blood pressure and kidney ailments. He was admitted to Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar Seremban, Negri Sembilan yesterday and died today at 1.50am.
A 90-year-old man was the second to die today at 5.23am, in Hospital Taiping, Perak. He was admitted on April 1, and had a history of diabetes, high-blood pressure and heart issues.
The third dead was a 47-year-old woman who had high blood pressure. She died at 7.36am in Hospital Umum Sarawak. She was admitted on April 8.
32-case spike in Selangor Mansion, says Noor Hisham
THIRTY-TWO Covid-19 infections have been detected in Selangor Mansion in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 75 in the downtown Kuala Lumpur residential building, said Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah today.
He said there was one new case in the nearby City One Plaza, while the number of cases in Malayan Mansion remains at four.
“In Menara City One, there is one new case. That place recorded one death, involving a Pakistani.
“In Malayan Mansion, the case remains at four but in Selangor Mansion, there are 32 new cases, bringing the total to 75 in that particular flat.
The three apartment buildings in the Masjid India district of the capital are under an enhanced movement control order following the detection of Covid-19 cases there.
The residents are mainly from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Dr Noor Hisham today announced there were 153 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, including three new deaths.
The total number of cases now stands at 4,683, with the death toll being 76.
