CORONAVIRUS | Twenty people have tested negative for Covid-19 after coming into close contact with a pregnant woman who had contracted the virus, said the Kelantan Health Department.
Its director, Dr Zaini Hussin (above) said this includes the woman's three-year-old child. However, 10 others are still being screened.
The woman, who is 35 weeks pregnant, had returned to Kelantan from Ampang to give birth. She is the first Covid-19 case in the eastern state in over a month.
Speaking to the media in Kota Bharu today, Zaini said it was possible that the woman, who is a housewife, had been infected by her husband.
He said the woman will be able to give birth without surgery, but that tests will have to be done on her baby after delivery.
Meanwhile, Kelantan police chief Hasanudddin Hassan said all of the woman's close contacts are barred from receiving any guests during Aidilfitri celebrations.
"Police will ensure they stay at home and don't welcome any guests during Aidilfitri.
"We will closely monitor their movements and will do house checks every two hours to ensure they are at home," he said. - Mkini
