'Act against Muhyiddin for making decision without party's consent'

Malaysiakini

At least 15 Bersatu leaders and members have written to the disciplinary board, urging action against president Muhyiddin Yassin for announcing the exit from Pakatan Harapan without the consent of the party.
This following news report on a leaked audio recording where Muhyiddin was heard telling the supreme council to entrust party chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad with the mandate to decide on whether or not to leave Harapan.
The grassroots members are also accusing Muhyiddin of offering himself as the candidate for the prime minister's post after the supreme council had decided on Feb 24 to continue the support for Mahathir, who resigned as the premier on the same day.
In the letters sighted by Malaysiakini, they said Muhyiddin had violated the party's constitution and the original policy of Bersatu since it was formed.
The issue of Bersatu quitting Harapan to join Perikatan Nasional (PN) was not validated nor consented by the majority of the members in the annual/emergency assembly or the supreme council, they claimed.
They said it has been the party's original policy to be with Harapan for the 14th general election and thereafter.
"He acted unlawfully by merging (Bersatu) with BN and PAS to set up the (PN) government which was not part of Bersatu's original policy.
"We hope disciplinary action would be taken immediately because this was a refusal to observe the party constitution and its legitimate policies," they said.

This news portal has learnt that some members have been unable to submit their letters as the party headquarters will only resume operation on June 9.
However, a source said few of them managed to submit their complaints after they contacted a staff who is stationed at the headquarters.
"Others who could not do so will either email or send a soft copy to the party," the source added.
When contacted, Kedah Bersatu deputy chief Anuar Abdul Hamid and Kota Melaka member Ahmad Faisal Mohd Yunos confirmed that they have lodged complaints against Muhyiddin.
"I sent (the letters) by Pos Laju to the party headquarters and a PDF copy (soft copy) to a party staff.
"The audio recording showed Muhyiddin (purportedly) saying that he will let Mahathir decide. But he lied to the supreme council as he acted otherwise," said Anuar.
He said the disciplinary board must summon Muhyiddin as this is a very serious issue.
This was the second letter filed by Anuar. Yesterday, he was one of the six Bersatu leaders who wanted an investigation against those who called for the supreme council meeting on May 11.
The meeting, which was subsequently aborted, was scheduled to be held in the absence of Mahathir and deputy president Mukhriz Mahathir.
Bersatu is split between party president Muhyiddin's faction and Mahathir's faction.
Muhyiddin's faction had wanted to act against Mahathir and Mukhriz based on their open criticism against the former's decision to abandon Pakatan Harapan and form an alliance with Umno, PAS and others.
Malaysiakini has attempted to contact Muhyiddin's aide, party information chief Radzi Md Jidin and disciplinary board chairperson Megat Najmuddin Megat Khas for comment.  - Mkini
