SIBU: A lorry driver has been arrested for allegedly tearing up a summons and showing an obscene sign to a traffic policeman.
The summons was issued for illegal parking.
Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said at about 8am on Sunday (May17), while a 39-year-old policeman was controlling the traffic in Jalan Channel here, he saw a car being parked along the yellow line.
He said as the policeman was about to issue the summons, the 46-year-old driver of the car tried to get away but was stopped.
"When the summons was issued to the suspect, he tore it up and showed an obscene sign to the policeman. He also uttered foul language. With the help of other policemen, the complainant arrested the suspect," said ACP Stanley.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing civil servants from discharging their duty and Section 509 of the same Code for uttering foul words. - Star
