CORONAVIRUS | Malaysia has recorded 50 new Covid-19 cases today, putting the total number of infections at 7,059.
According to Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, 90 more patients have fully recovered and have been discharged, bringing the recovery rate to 82.1 percent or 5,796 cases.
Meanwhile, he said no new fatalities have been recorded, maintaining the Covid-19 death toll at 114, or 1.61 percent.
Of the new cases detected in the last 24 hours, he said three were found to be imported cases.
Out of the 47 local infections, 41 were non-Malaysians with 34 originating from a new cluster detected at the Bukit Jalil immigration depot in Kuala Lumpur.
Asked about the Covid-19 case of a pregnant woman who travelled from Ampang, Selangor to Kuala Krai, Kelantan; Noor Hisham confirmed that 20 close contacts, all family members, tested negative while 10 more are awaiting results.
“We will also conduct active case detection among close contacts in Ampang,” he added.
As for the one new case detected in Terengganu yesterday, he said contact tracing is underway for the 31-year-old man involved.
