Enhanced MCO in Selayang Baru extended for second time

Malaysiakini

CORONAVIRUS | The government has decided to extend the enhanced movement control order (MCO) in Selayang Baru, Kuala Lumpur for the second time.
Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who is the senior minister in charge of the MCO, said this is to give time for health officials to finish testing the residents there for Covid-19.
"Perhaps in two to three days, then we will announce the end of the enhanced MCO in Selayang Baru," he told a press conference in Putrajaya.
The affected areas are as follow:
Zone C: Jalan Besar Selayang Baru, Jalan 1 and Jalan Indah 21, Selayang Baru
Zone D: Jalan 3, 5, 7 and 9, Selayang Baru
Zone E: Jalan 2, 4, 6 and 8, Selayang Baru
Zone F: Block A, B and C, Selayang Makmur
The Selayang Baru neighbourhood was put under an enhanced MCO on April 25 and this was extended on May 4. It was supposed to expire tomorrow.
However, Ismail said the enhanced MCO for neighbouring Pusat Bandar Utara will be allowed to expire tomorrow.
The areas that will no longer be under an enhanced MCO starting tomorrow are as follows:
  • Parcel C: Jalan 2/3A, Pusat Bandar Utara
  • Parcel D: Jalan 2/3A, Pusat Bandar Utara
  • Parcel E1: Taman Sri Murni Fasa 2, Jalan 1/2D
  • Parcel E2: Taman Sri Murni Fasa 1, Jalan 1/2D
  • Parcel E3: Taman Sri Murni Fasa 3, Jalan 1/2B
  • Parcel F: Taman Batu View and Taman Batu Hampar
"The Health Ministry has conducted Covid-19 tests on all the residents there," said Ismail.
Under an enhanced MCO, residents are confined to their homes and health workers will go door-to-door to screen and test residents for Covid-19. All businesses must close.
The rest of the country is under a conditional MCO, which sees more relaxed rules.
Most businesses are allowed to operate and recreational activities that do not involve groups are allowed.
However, gatherings, including religious ones, are still banned.
As of noon yesterday, the country recorded 6,726 Covid-19 cases with 109 deaths.
However, 5113 patients have recovered and 1,504 cases are still under treatment. - Mkini
