Special envoy to the Middle East Abdul Hadi Awang will use his good relationship with international organisations and leaders to raise the hardship faced by Muslims especially in Palestine, Rakhine state in Myanmar, and Kashmir which is a disputed region between India and Pakistan.
Hadi (above) said he and his colleagues will work hard to find mutual ground to get Muslims and their leaders worldwide to unite.
"Although it's a heavy responsibility, I take it as compulsory.
"With assistance from our friends, we will work to unite Muslims who are divided and pounced on by enemies.
"The love of Islam is the equilibrium point which must be used to unite Muslims," he said in a talk show aired on TV Alhijrah this morning.
He was invited as a guest in a programme to commemorate the 1948 Palestinian exodus known as the Nakba where hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were expelled from their homes during the Palestine war.
Hadi was appointed special envoy to the Middle East with ministerial status last month.
Meanwhile, commenting on the Nakba, he said the majority of countries in the world including Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei do not recognise Israel as a country.
In conjunction with Ramadan, he urged Muslims to continue praying for Palestinians who are oppressed in their homeland.
"Let's utilise the fasting month to pray not only for ourselves but for (all) Muslims," he said. - Mkini
