Kedah PAS: Mukhriz lost confidence of 23 reps, including four from Bersatu

Malaysiakini

PAS Jeneri assemblyperson Muhammad Sanusi Mohd Nor announced today that 23 out of 36 Kedah assemblypersons have lost confidence in Menteri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir.
This includes two former PKR representatives, 15 from PAS, two from BN and four from Bersatu.
“With this loss of confidence in the leadership, the Pakatan Harapan government falls and loses legitimacy as the state government with immediate effect,” he said in a press conference that was live-streamed on Facebook this afternoon.
PAS, Umno and Bersatu party presidents will next decide on an MB candidate and submit the name to the Kedah palace.
Sanusi, who is heavily tipped to be the candidate, declined to comment on such speculation today.
At the beginning of the press conference, he had acknowledged all elected representatives who were in attendance.
He did not make mention of any Bersatu representatives but assured that four had already signed statutory declarations (SDs) declaring a loss of support for Mukhriz.
“Those four have signed and they have submitted (their declarations to the palace),” Sanusi said.
He added that the four will soon hold individual press conferences explaining their decisions.
Two Bersatu assemblypersons - Mohd Firdaus Ahmad (Kuah) and Halimaton Shaadiah Saad (Bukit Kayu Hitam) have since confirmed Sanusi’s statements with Malaysiakini.
The four other Bersatu representatives in Kedah are Juhairi Bulat (Ayer Hangat), Ku Abd Rahman Ku Ismail (Guar Chempedak), Amiruddin Hamzah (Anak Bukit) and Mukhriz himself (Jitra).

Of the 23 assemblypersons, Sanusi said 19 have officially agreed to form a Perikatan Nasional (PN) state government.
He shared how a technical error would now require all 23 to submit a fresh stack of SDs to the palace.
“We submitted them (the SDs) yesterday. But as an opposition party that does not support Mukhriz anyway, we did not include the phrase ‘loss of confidence’.
“Legal experts now tell us that the phrase must be included in everyone’s SD. So even though we have submitted them, we will make new ones to replace our previous SDs,” he explained. - Mkini
