Malaysiakini
CORONAVIRUS | The country recorded 60 new Covid-19 cases today with the bulk coming from the Klang Valley.
According to Health Ministry data, Klang Valley made up 57 of the 60 cases with 46 coming from Selangor and 11 from Kuala Lumpur.
The remaining new cases were from Sabah (2) and Johor (1).
Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, in a statement, said seven of the cases were imported while 53 were local transmissions.
Of the local transmissions, 44 involved foreigners while nine were Malaysian citizens.
The new cases were spurred by outbreaks at immigration detention centres.
The data is for the last 24 hours up to noon today.
Noor Hisham also reported 33 recoveries within the same period, bringing the total recoveries to 5,945 or 82.1 percent of all cases.
No new deaths were reported, maintaining the toll at 115.
A total of 1,185 patients are still under treatment. Of this nine are in the intensive care unit of which four need a ventilator to breathe.
In his statement, Noor Hisham wished all Malaysians Selamat Hari Raya, particularly those who continue to be on duty during the holiday.
He reiterated his advice against visiting friends and families during this holiday season to curb the spread of Covid-19.
Noor Hisham also advised Malaysians to avoid crowded places, confined spaces and close conversations as well as to practice good hygiene and social distancing.
