Kimanis MP Mohamad Alamin has been appointed as the chairperson of Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO).
According to MyIPO, the appointment took effect on April 30.
The corporation is a government agency tasked with educating Malaysians on how to protect their intellectual property.
Mohamad (photo), 48, was a lawyer and former Bongawan assemblyperson between 2013 and 2018.
He bagged 54.34 percent of the popular vote as a BN candidate during the Kimanis by-election on January 18, in a straight fight against Warisan's Karim Bujang.
Mohamad has joined the ranks of a long list of MPs to have been appointed as heads of GLCs or government agencies.
Previously, Sabah Umno had lobbied for Mohamad to be appointed as a deputy minister.
The party also lobbied for Bung Moktar Radin to be appointed chairperson of the Sabah Federal Development, and Abdul Rahman Dahlan as a senator.
