No balik kampung for Raya - PM

Malaysiakini

CORONAVIRUS | Despite further easing of the movement control order (MCO) to begin on Monday, people will still not be permitted to return to their hometown or host open houses for the coming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.
In announcing the coming conditional MCO today, Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said interstate travel and any activities involving body contact or a large gathering of people are not permitted.
This is as the government has allowed most businesses and social activities to resume from May 4 in a bid to restart the economy and allow people to adjust to the “new normal” in the wake of Covid-19 outbreak.
Only those seeking to travel across states to resume work or return home after being trapped in their hometowns since the MCO was announced on March 18 will be permitted to do so.
However, overseas travel remains barred.
“Interstate travel is still not permitted except for the purpose of going to work or return to their own homes after being stranded in their kampung or other places.
“I’m sorry, but interstate travel to balik kampung for Aidilfitri celebrations is not allowed,” he said in a live address on Labour Day earlier today.
Aside from travel, the premier said religious activities involving a gathering of are still not permitted.
This includes religious processions, Friday solat prayers and any gatherings at mosques, suraus, and any other places of worship. - Mkini
