Those who embark on interstate travel are only permitted to travel to their destination as applied for with the police without stopping elsewhere.
This was clarified by the Senior Minister (security cluster) Ismail Sabri Yaakob at a media conference in Putrajaya today.
"In the application to the police, applicants will fill in their destination.
"For instance, if someone is travelling from Johor to Kuala Lumpur, they cannot stop in Melaka to break their fast.
"They must continue their journey until they reach the applied for destination," he said.
Ismail advised Muslims to bring food from home so they can break their fast in their cars during the journey.
In an update yesterday, he said police had permitted 26,181 applications for interstate travel via the mobile application "Gerak Malaysia" and 6,304 applications via manual forms submitted at police stations nationwide.
These were for those travelling from Kuala Lumpur to their respective states.
Today, the police have approved 70,538 permissions for those in Perak, Johor, and Kelantan to return to their homes located in other states.
Tomorrow, folks in Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Melaka, and Pahang will have their turn to cross state boundaries.
Those in Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, and Terengganu, meanwhile, will have to wait until May 10 to start their journeys back home.
Ismail Sabri said after May 10, interstate travel will only be allowed for emergency purposes such as medical needs or funerals of close family members after permission is granted by the nearest police station.
Those who have to travel interstate daily to their workplaces are allowed to continue doing so with a letter of permission from their heads of department, he added. - Mkini
