NSC to review SOP after foreigners escape Covid-19 quarantine

Malaysiakini

CORONAVIRUS | Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob today said the National Security Council (NSC) will review its standard operating procedure on the management of Covid-19 quarantine centres after a recent escape of six foreigners from a facility in Kuala Lumpur.
Ismail noted that it was not the first time such an incident had occurred and police had taken swift actions to hunt down those who escaped.
"We will look at the SOP and see how they could have escaped from the area.
"If the SOP is not tight enough, we will tighten it. InsyaAllah, NSC will look into it," the senior minister in charge of the security cluster said during a daily Covid-19 press conference update in Putrajaya.
Earlier today, the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) confirmed that six foreigners who are under Covid-19 investigation fled a quarantine station at the Institute of Teacher Education Malaysia International Languages Campus in Jalan Pantai Endah, Kuala Lumpur, two days ago.
A Nadma spokesperson told Malaysiakini a police report had been lodged on the case involving four Indonesian nationals and two Bangladeshis who were among 242 patients under investigation (PUI) at the centre.
This followed a report by an English daily last night that a group of foreigners, who were living at Selangor Mansion, Menara City One and Kampung Baru with suspected coronavirus cases had been placed at the quarantine station by the authorities.
However, the report by The Star stated that the incident involved seven foreign nationals instead of six. - Mkini
