Trading licences not meant for foreigners, says Annuar Musa

PETALING JAYA: Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa has warned entrepreneurs and traders not to "sell" their legitimate trading licences from the ministry to third parties, foreigners in particular.
He urged those who had "sold" or "lent" their licences to foreigners to surrender it or risk being blacklisted.
"We received feedback that foreigners are running businesses in the Federal Territories, especially in Kuala Lumpur," he said during an FB live video on the ministry's Facebook page Tuesday (May 5).
Annuar clarified that business licences issued by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) are only meant for Malaysians.
"The licences are only issued to Malaysians, but my question is how are foreigners able to trade as a business – not work as an employee?
"Foreigners who enter the country have a specific visitor's pass. Those that overstay or are holding refugee status cards from UNHCR, visa holders and social visitors are also disqualified from working," he said.
He urged all stakeholders to work together and not let others make use of opportunities only meant for citizens. - Star
