Prominent Islamic preacher Ismail Kamus passed away early this morning, at the age of 71.
Ismail had served as Gombak Setia state assemblyperson from 1999 to 2004 and was also a former PAS central committee member.
His son Ustaz Mohd Firdaus Ismail said on Facebook that Ismail breathed his last at their family home in Ampang, at 12.30am.
It is understood that the PAS veteran underwent heart surgery at the National Heart Institute (IJN) last year and has recently been unwell.
PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang was among many who expressed sorrow at the loss, conveying their condolences to the family and students of the late Ismail.
The late Ismail who was born on Dec 2, 1948, in Kampung Batang Rening, Ulu Selangor, studied at Kolej Islam Klang and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia before going to Beaver College, Pennsylvania, to further his studies. - Mkini
