YOURSAY | ‘Politicians were behaving like kids at the Malacca state assembly sitting.’
Anonymous 381541456985626: This is the fasting month of Ramadan. It is the time for us to be reflecting on oneself, helping the needy, being gentle and humble to your fellow human beings.
Besides practising social distancing, we must also reduce shouting (and the spraying of saliva).
As politicians who represent the citizens, there is a certain decorum expected and they have to set good examples and be role models.
But if these are the leaders that are going to govern our country, then only God can save us.
Annonnymous 080: It is very embarrassing that such an incident was instigated by Umno politician and former Malacca chief minister Idris Haron.
Isn't there anyone that could hold Idris accountable for disrespectfully throwing a standing order book at the assembly speaker? More so, before a prayer recital?
What is the Malacca Governor Mohd Khalil Yaakob’s response to this? It seems like no one could control or stop such uncouth behaviour.
Diehardmalaysian: Idris, where is your religious upbringing? How can you disrupt the proceedings when the prayer recitation was about to start?
Furthermore, you threw the standing order book. Shame on you, especially when you were the chief minister previously. You have set a barbaric precedent.
Anonymous_1584383074294.05881584382214188: Insult to the House?
I say that assembly speaker Omar Jaafar had insulted the House even more as he had rejected motions to replace him.
So when a speaker rejects a motion put forward by the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government, it is not insulting to the House?
And hurling the "babi" insult is so childish. How old is former DAP leader Norhizam Hassan Baktee (Pengkalan Batu-Independent)? Does he think that he is still in primary school?
Just A Voice: All of them are a joke and a show of immaturity at its best.
How to govern a state or country with professionalism when we have childish representatives such as this?
I’m a teacher and this kind of behaviour is akin to ill-disciplined children. Looks like these adults did not grow up.
MASterPLAN: What a shame to these ‘ybs’ (they are not fit to be referred to as ‘yang berhormat’ in capital letters anymore). Hopefully, this doesn't happen in the coming Parliament session.
My grandson who is in kindergarten behaves better.
Pokokelapa: Is this what we want? Is this what we voted for in GE14? Is this what we want at a time like this?
The people are suffering. Instead of sorting out the Covid-19 pandemic mess, we have nothing but morons and imbeciles as representatives wasting the people's time.
Was anything worthwhile discussed? Nothing. Malacca is dying without tourism activities.
Looking at things, I suspect it will be the same when Parliament opens for a day on May 18 (next Monday).
Anonymous_ba958b7b: All these politicians are a disgrace to the state and to the country. They should all be sacked as they have no respect for the rules.
They are calling each other derogatory names; they should be permanently kicked out from the August house.
All these politicians are only out to steal from the country and fill their pockets. That is why they are so desperate to regain their positions to ensure that they could continue stealing.
There are no exceptions, from the top to the lowest rung. It is simply disgusting.
Anonymous #95676433: The parliamentary system, democracy and free elections will not work unless there is a law that disallows elected representatives from party hopping.
It makes no sense for people to make the effort to come out and vote if the winning candidate later jumps ship for whatever reason.
Eventually, people will not bother to vote. It is quite clear that individuals only go into politics not to serve the people but for self-interest.
Bright Morning Star: Malaysia's august houses, both state assemblies and parliament, have descended into a state of shame and disrepute with low-class men and women of questionable character warming their seats and fighting for their own narrow, selfish interests, for more wealth and power, and never for the interests and welfare of our diverse people who voted for a better nation.
Only the all-knowing omnipotent One above can save us from our misery.
Anonymous 770241447347646: Welcome to the wild, wild west. The only thing missing is the guns. If they had firearms, there would have been one hell of a shootout.
It very clearly shows without hesitation that the only interests of these politicians are positions and perks. They are willing to go to any lengths to get them. By hook or by crook.
ZunNuun: All I can say is that they all are not behaving as they should when attending a state assembly. They are more like monkeys in a zoo.
No, I am sorry. I will take that back as it is actually an insult to the monkeys. These politicians are worse than monkeys.
Lionking: As I drive by the town, I see very long queues in almost all pawn shops. The people are having a hard time meeting ends meet.
Then I see the video of the fracas in the Malacca assembly, I see a long queue of barbarians who are overpaid and overfed fighting amongst themselves instead of helping the suffering rakyat. - Mkini
