Non-Muslim wedding ceremonies now allowed - Ismail Sabri

Malaysiakini

Non-Muslim wedding ceremonies are now allowed to take place, said Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
“This is for non-Muslim wedding ceremonies in their places of worship and non-Muslim associations which involve a marriage registrar appointed under Section 28 of the Law Reform (Marriage and Divorce) Act,” he said in a statement today.
However, wedding receptions are still not allowed to take place.
Meanwhile, the ceremony cannot have more than 20 people in attendance, including the marriage registrar, Ismail said.
This is also subject to the capacity of the place of worship or the association as social distancing needs to be maintained, he added.
The ceremony also needs to comply with the standard operating procedure (SOP) as set by the National Security Council (NSC) and the Health Ministry, he said.
Previously, Ismail had announced that Muslim couples were allowed to get married under the conditional movement control order (MCO) with a small number of people present.
On June 2, he had also announced that interstate travel for solemnisation ceremony purposes would be allowed. - Mkini
