Perlis Umno chairperson Shahidan Kassim has advised former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak to give “positive views” on the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government instead of criticising it.
Najib has been actively posting his critical views on issues related to the government on social media recently.
Shahidan (above) said the former premier should be giving positive views instead to help the PN government attract foreign investors to the country.
“If not, the investors will not come. Great former leaders of the country should find ways to help the government,” he said in a press conference after a breaking fast event with orphans and members of the press at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur today.
Earlier today, Najib had questioned in a post on Facebook why Umno and BN were still part of the PN government even though they have been criticised for mishandling the economy and the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I am shy to comment about the hashtag #KerajaanGagal, even though I also do not understand why Umno and BN still want to be linked to a failed government until today.
“Unless there are those who prioritise positions instead of the welfare of the country, the rakyat and the party,” Najib had said in his post.
In his press conference tonight, Shahidan, who is also the Arau MP, said changing the government now will cause the economy to take a long time to recover.
“Asking to change the government will not help the country’s economy recover. Changing the government will take time to fix the economy.
“No matter how great we are, we have to look at the current situation. Give positive views,” he said. - Mkini
