Permatang Pauh Member of Parliament Nurul Izzah Anwar said it is up to the PKR leadership if she will defend her seat in the 15th general election.
“There is no decision yet. I think we do need to abide by the decision of the party. Discussions are ongoing, but I always go back to the issue of all being soldiers of the movement and the party.
“I know, initially, it was not an easy decision to proceed but let us cross the bridge when we come to it... I am also very mindful of the instruction that will be issued,” she said when launching PKR’s official e-commerce store on Shopee in Kuala Lumpur today.
In the last general election, the former PKR vice-president retained Permatang Pauh for the party by polling 35,534 votes, winning by a margin of 15,668 votes.
She beat Barisan Nasional’s Mohd Zaidi Mohd Said (who secured 19,866 votes) and PAS candidate Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden (14,428 votes).
Permatang Pauh has been a PKR seat since 1999.
