Two weak earthquakes measuring 2.8 and 2.7 on the Richter scale respectively, were detected in Ranau, Sabah.
The first occurred at 11.10pm yesterday while the second was at 1.05am.
The Malaysian Meteorology Department (MetMalaysia) tweeted that the first earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres.
"The earthquake struck 11 kilometres west of Ranau," it said, adding that the tremor could be felt around the district.
According to its Facebook page, the second tremor was 14km west of Ranau and at a depth of 13km.
No casualties have been reported thus far. - Mkini
