KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin is satisfied with the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme's (NIP) implementation in the state.
To date, the state saw about 200,648 people getting their vaccine doses.
"We have seen a significant increase in the number of recipients so far.
"We hope to achieve the target of 268,000 recipients for phase two of the programme," he said on the latest development of the programme in Sabah.
Bung Moktar who is also the state Works Minister had earlier urged the vaccination programme in the state to be accelerated including granting permission to the state government to purchase the vaccines from Pharmaniaga.
He also hoped more private hospitals in the state would get involved in the immunisation programme after the Gleneagles Hospital in Kota Kinabalu started the service on Monday.
Bung Moktar called for the registration of the immunisation programme to be intensified suggesting that registrations could be done through WhatsApp, drive-through and reaching out to the interior areas as many rural people were still unclear on the registration method.
He said politicians from both sides of the divide must also play their roles to inform the people that the vaccine was safe and help tackle fake news spread by irresponsible quarters, which created a lot of public anxiety. - NST
