TUMPAT: Nur Husna Mohd Zailani has been living with Cerebral Palsy (CP) since birth, but her condition was not a deterrent for her to do her best in her Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.
The 19-year-old passed all the six subjects she took for the examination.
The student from SMK Wakaf Bharu would probably have scored seven passes, if she had not fallen sick on the day of her seventh paper, Mathematics.
Her mother Zainab Husain, 53, said she was so happy that Husna, the fourth of five siblings, passed the six subjects she sat for in the SPM.
"Her siblings and I never forced her to sit for the exam, due to her physical condition but she insisted.
"Her never-give-up spirit is so strong. She knows that her disorder affects her ability to move and maintain balance, but she was determined to take the exam," she said when met at her home in Kampung Paloh, here.
Zainab explained that her daughter attended a class which included disabled students at SMK Wakaf Bharu where she is also a teacher.
"My daughter had been grieving the loss of her father Mohd Zailani Zakaria, who died in February last year. She was the closest to her father compared to her other siblings.
"I had thought that she would be unable to focus on her studies, but I was wrong. She overcame all her obtacles and managed to take the exam."
Zainab said Husna's brother, Lokman also helped her sister a lot with her studies. - NST
