Full vehicle capacity for fully vaccinated, no more 10km limit within district

Fully vaccinated individuals in states that are under Phase 1 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) can now travel according to the full capacity of their vehicle.

This is according to the latest standard operating procedures (SOP) released by the National Security Council yesterday.

The previous rule stated that only two persons were allowed to travel in a vehicle.

The facility is strictly for those who have completed their Covid-19 immunisation. For those who haven't, the old rules still apply where only two people from the same household are allowed to go out to get basic necessities and a maximum of three people when a patient needs to be accompanied to get medical treatment or for emergency cases.

For the record, a person is considered to have received full vaccination two weeks after receiving the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, or 28 days after receiving single-dose type vaccines such as Johnson & Johnson and CanSino.

Regions in Phase 1 of the NRP are Kedah, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan, Malacca, Johor and Putrajaya.

The latest SOP also states that there’s no longer a 10km limit for individuals to travel within the same district, but inter-district travelling is still banned for Phase 1 states.

The government had first announced the relaxation of rules for fully vaccinated individuals on Aug 8, including allowing long-distance couples to cross state and district borders to visit each other (all phases), while for Phase 2 and beyond, they are allowed to cross districts and to dine-in at restaurants, subject to strict SOPs.

Further relaxation was announced by caretaker prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin two days ago, where dine-in was also allowed for fully vaccinated individuals in Phase 1 states.

Other rules relaxed for the fully vaccinated include more recreational and sporting activities, including fishing, hiking, camping, cycling, golf, and singles badminton or tennis matches. - Mkini
