DAP man: If every flag was a lunch box, no one would starve

SARAWAK POLLS | The DAP central region will only participate modestly in the "flag war" to save on funds.

At a press conference today, Sarawak DAP deputy chief David Wong said his party will focus its funds on helping the public.

"It is insulting to think that people are losing jobs because of the Covid-19 pandemic, yet around the city, every party is engaging in the flag war.

"If every flag was a lunch box, no one in Sibu will starve," he added.

The Pelawan incumbent said Sarawak DAP mandates that its elected representatives contribute 20 percent of their salary to help the public.

He also revealed that his office had been providing food aid for the public for 18 months straight.

"We put our resources in people, not flags. People can see this.

"Some people are telling me that all the flags out there reminds them of the Hungry Ghost festival," he quipped.

Wong will be defending his Pelawan seat against four challengers from Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) component Sarawak United People's Party, Parti Sarawak Bersatu, Parti Aspirasi Rakyat Sarawak and Parti Bumi Kenyalang respectively.

This policy of limiting the number of flags appears to be limited to the DAP central region only. In Kuching, located in the southern region, DAP's flags and billboards are numerous.
