PETALING JAYA: Police are tracking down several people who were seen mocking persons with disabilities (OKU) in two separate videos.

In a statement today, Sentul police chief Beh Eng Lai confirmed that a woman had lodged a police report on the matter.

“The complainant considers the individuals to have openly insulted the OKU community in Malaysia and used them as content to attract attention on social media,” he said.

“Police are now tracking down all the suspects based on the information that we have received.”

Beh said the cases had been classified under Section 504 of the Penal Code for intentional insult and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA) 1998 for improper use of network facilities.

Earlier today, FMT reported that Ras Adiba Radzi, who heads the OKU Sentral NGO, said she lodged a police report against several individuals for mocking OKU people in two separate incidents.

She added this was regardless of the fact that those involved had publicly apologised.

In one video, two men bragged about having successfully secured a parking spot for OKU by pretending to be disabled.

In another video, two women pretended to be OKU so that they could use the toilet for the disabled at a petrol station. - FMT
