What about Sabah’s 16 ‘sick’ projects, PKR chief asks govt

Christina Liew says Putrajaya must update the public on the current status of the projects, which had been classified as ‘sick’.

KOTA KINABALU: Former Sabah deputy chief minister Christina Liew wants Putrajaya to disclose the details of 16 “sick” projects in the state.

The Tawau MP said the government must also update the public on the current status of these projects.

She was responding to a comment by economic affairs minister Mustapa Mohamed last Saturday, about the government monitoring 92 “sick” (problematic) projects nationwide that have been delayed beyond two months.

He said that Sabah had the highest number of such projects.

Liew, who is also Sabah PKR chief, urged the government to be more proactive in order to complete these “sick” projects within the shortest time possible.

“Something must be seriously wrong somewhere for the state to top the ‘behind schedule’ list,” she said, in a statement here today.

“By now, we should be receiving good news about the progress of some of these projects. Be transparent and reveal what the 16 ‘sick’ projects are, and their expected completion date, in the interest of the public.”

Liew added the relevant state authorities must get down to the root of the problem to expedite the accomplishment of the projects before the next general election (GE15). - FMT
