Rapper Altimet is the winner of the Ampang PKR division chief post, according to the latest result posted on the party election website earlier tonight.
It was the third time the result for the position had changed since PKR held its election last month.
The original election result showed Daing Muhammad Reduan Bachok winning the race with 942 votes to defeat actor Hans Isaac who received 609 votes, and Altimet in third place with 589.
However, following complaints of misconduct, the PKR Election Committee launched an investigation before finding that Daing was involved in vote-buying and announced his disqualification.
The party then held a re-election on June 29.
A day later, unofficial vote counts showed Hans leading with 748 votes, followed closely by Altimet with 746.
In the result published tonight, vote counts showed that Altimet had received 743 votes while Hans fell to second place with 734.
It was not stated whether this would be the final result. Malaysiakini has reached out to PKR Election Committee chairperson Zaliha Mustafa for comment.
Altimet, whose real name is Syed Ahmad Abdul Rahman Alhadad, joined the party in April last year, together with a fellow entertainer Afdlin Shauki, while Hans, 51, joined PKR in 2020. It was previously speculated that the latter would contest in the Ampang parliamentary constituency in the 15th general election.
The re-election also saw three other candidates competing for the Ampang PKR division chief post, namely Abdullah Md Zain, Sam Hoo Wai, and Abdul Latif Shaari, while another candidate Abdul Halim Mohamed Yusof withdrew from the contest. - Mkini
