KUALA LUMPUR: Comedian Rizal van Geyzel will be released from the Dang Wangi police headquarters lockup this evening after the authorities only obtained a one-day remand order for him.
His lawyer Ramkarpal Singh said Rizal, who was detained yesterday, is being investigated over three videos that allegedly touched on racial and religious sensitivities.
“The police initially applied for a four-day remand order but we objected to that. The magistrate agreed and allowed a one-day remand order for Rizal,” he said told reporters outside the Dang Wangi district police headquarters.
Ramkarpal said Rizal, the Crackhouse Comedy Club co-founder will be be released after 6pm.
