PETALING JAYA: Police are investigating several Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers for allegedly extorting a man in an interrogation room at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya.
The incident allegedly happened early last month when several MACC officers were investigating the man, who is said to be a director of a company supplying face masks.
Putrajaya police chief Asmadi Abdul Aziz confirmed that police received a report from the company director, who claimed that two MACC officers forced him to write a declaration letter to transfer RM1.7 million to someone.
“The investigation paper has been submitted to the prosecution and legal division of the state police headquarters, with instructions for further action,” he told FMT.
“So far, the MACC officers have denied the allegation, but the case is still under investigation.”
Earlier, anonymous social media account Edisi Siasat shared what seemed to be a police report regarding the case, where the complainant alleged that he was surrounded by three MACC officers and a member of the public before two of them forced him to write the letter. - FMT
