The police have classified the case against former PKR senator Siti Aishah Shaik Ismail over a viral video clip on subsidies as “no further action (NFA)”, her lawyer Adly Zulfadhly Zulkefly said today.
"We completed the police statement in just 10 minutes. The Bukit Aman CID Legal Division (D5) confirmed that her case was classified as NFA," he said in a text message to Malaysiakini.
Adly added that Siti Aishah (above) was probed under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
The former one-term senator said she was asked to go to the police headquarters on Monday to make a statement.
However, she requested a date after the Hari Raya Aidiladha, to which the police allowed.
This was related to a viral recording on TikTok over the subsidy issue, claiming that various subsidies would be abolished from July 1, which could result in public anger against the government.
On June 27, Perak police chief Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said Siti Aishah had a statement recorded from her by an officer from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for the purpose of investigation. - Mkini
