Netizens have been mocking the newly unveiled National Day and Malaysia Day logo, which consists of three curved lines and four dots scattered over the lines in blue, yellow and red.
Many ridiculed the logo for resembling the WiFi symbol but with “pimples”, including graphic artist Fahmi Reza, who posted a satirical advertising poster about the logo.
Referring to an anti-acne product, Fahmi juxtaposed the original logo showing the “pimples” with a similar-looking symbol but with the dots removed.
Emblazoned underneath the ‘before’ and ‘after’ pictures were the words - “Special formula to fight a pimpled government”.
Fahmi also posted another graphic mocking the logo earlier, in which he slowly morphed the logo into a clown face.
Political cartoonist Zunar ridiculed the logo as well on his social media, saying the logo symbolises lawmakers who have jumped parties. Like many others, he also compared it to the WiFi symbol.
Many netizens also criticised the logo as something even a child could come up with.
The new National Day and Malaysia Day logo was revealed by Communications and Multimedia Minister Annuar Musa on Friday.
The minister explained that the symbol represents infrastructural development, communications systems and the expansion of digitalisation efforts for the benefit of the rakyat.
He said this was in line with the Keluarga Malaysia tagline of Teguh Bersama (Strong Together).- Mkini
