The MACC will summon all individuals named in the controversial secret ledger of Ultra Kirana Sdn Bhd (UKSB), said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.
He said the probe by the graft buster will determine, based on the records, if the money changing hands was corrupt activity.
"The MACC has received several complaints against individuals listed in a ledger as submitted in the court recently.
"MACC will summon all the names mentioned in that ledger. The investigation will determine whether the grant or money received is corruption," Wan Junaidi (above) said.
The Santubong MP said this in his parliamentary reply to Kota Melaka MP Khoo Poay Tiong.
Khoo had asked why the MACC was not probing those mentioned in the Kirana ledger, including former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin, Housing and Local Government Minister Reezal Merican Naina Merican, Senior Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, former Sabah chief minister Shafie Apdal, and former foreign minister Anifah Aman.
These prominent figures were implicated in witness testimonies during the graft trial of Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi involving the foreign visa system in the High Court in Shah Alam, Selangor in May.
The secret ledger of UKSB, which contained code names and details of alleged payments of kickbacks made by the company to several individuals between 2014 and 2018, was submitted in court as evidence.
While the MACC has said it will open investigation papers into this matter after the testimony, questions have been raised as to why the agency did not do so earlier as the evidence and the witnesses were prepared by them. - Mkini
