Another man has been remanded for four days by the Kuala Krai Magistrate’s Court in Kelantan for allegedly insulting Islam and Prophet Muhammad through a social media posting he allegedly made yesterday.
The remand order on the 35-year-old was issued by magistrate Amal Razim Alias and will be in force until Friday.
The order is to facilitate investigations under Section 298 and 505(b) of the Penal Code for insulting Islam and causing public unrest, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for abuse of networks.
This is the fifth case involving insult to religion to hit headlines in the span of a week, including three cases linked to the stand-up comedy venue Crackhouse Comedy Club in Kuala Lumpur.
Yesterday, a 39-year-old food delivery rider in Puchong, Selangor, was remanded over his Instagram posting where he allegedly insulted Islam and Prophet Muhammad.
He was earlier reported to have been assaulted by a group of men over his remarks, prompting police to speak out against vigilante acts.

In the Kelantan case, acting state police chief Muhamad Zaki Harun said the unemployed man was arrested at 11.30am after a police report was lodged that morning.
He had allegedly uploaded the four-minute 14-second video at the location where he was arrested in Kampung Bagan Chekok, Pulai Chandong, Machang.
Police said a urine test came back positive for methamphetamines.
In the video, which has since gone viral, a man is seen painting while uttering insults against Islam.
Last Wednesday, performer Siti Nuramira Abdullah, 26, pleaded not guilty to the charge of causing disharmony through her performance at the Crackhouse Comedy Club.
She was arrested by the Federal Territories Islamic Affairs Department (Jawi) today immediately after posting bail.
Her boyfriend, Alexander Navin Vijayachandran, 38, pleaded not guilty to two counts of uploading obscene content on social media.
He was charged with uploading content with the intention to insult other people, on Instagram on June 5 and Youtube on June 16, respectively.
The club's co-founder Rizal Van Geyzel, 39, was last week also remanded for one day and is investigated for sedition, over two video clips of his older performances which recently went viral amid public attention on the Siti Nuramira case. - Mkini
