Warisan spreads wings to Perlis, won't expand to all states

Warisan today launched its Perlis chapter this morning as it continues its expansion plan beyond its home base of Sabah.

Speaking to reporters this morning in Kangar, Warisan president Mohd Shafie Apdal (above) said the party will only expand to Peninsular Malaysia states where it has support.

“We are not planning to open branches all over Peninsular Malaysia, but instead only choose a few states where we can garner support.

“We will not enter states such as Pahang, Terengganu and some others,” he said, according to Bernama.

Shafie said Warisan currently has branches in Negeri Sembilan, Johor and Penang.

Other states with known Warisan presence include Selangor and Perak.

Shafie said the next stop for Warisan will be Kedah.

Meanwhile, Shafie said his party has yet to decide on a pre-election electoral pact.

“For now, we want to make sure that Warisan is the choice of Malaysians first, only after GE15 will we look at any suitable party or parties to cooperate.

“But at the moment we are working with the people from Perlis to Sabah,” he said.

In March, Warisan officials tested the waters in Peninsular Malaysia by fielding six candidates for the Johor election. None of the six managed to keep their deposit. - Mkini
