A group of PKR Youth branch chiefs from Selangor have rejected the appointment of Muhammad Izuan Kasim as the new PKR Youth state chief.
In a statement co-signed by 12 Selangor PKR Youth branch chiefs, they said Izuan did not receive the majority of their support.
“A total of 12 other PKR Youth branch chiefs have given their full support to Rawang assemblyperson Chua Wei Kiat as the candidate for the Selangor PKR Youth chief.
“This nomination takes into account his experience as the Selangor PKR Youth chief from 2020 to 2022,” the 12 PKR Youth branch chiefs said in the statement today.
The 12 PKR Youth branch chiefs are Chua Wei Kiat (Selayang), Jisnukvitran Vejayaiddren (Bangi), Parithi Vaanan Ramasamy (Puchong), Bariqul Zaman Batharul Zaman (Sungai Buloh), Mohamad Shahrul Adnan (Klang), Surendran Suppiah (Kuala Langat), Nanthakumar Poapolan (Kota Raja), Sathasivam Manohar (Sabak Bernam), Sivabalan Mugunthan (Kuala Selangor), Muhamad Jashir Khan Mohd Johari Muniyandy (Sungai Besar), Muhammad Azri Mustafa (Kapar) and Visuawanthan Kandasamy (Hulu Langat).
They said Selangor PKR Youth needs a leader who is authoritative and proactive in amplifying the voices of youths, especially party members, and “not a leader who can be controlled by certain individuals to manipulate Selangor PKR Youth”.
“As such, 12 Selangor PKR Youth branch chiefs unanimously reject and will not recognise the appointment of Izuan Kasim as the new Selangor PKR Youth chief,” they said.
PKR Youth chief Adam Adli Abdul Halim should be more cognizant of the political dynamics in Selangor, especially as they are about to face the 15th general election, they added.
Earlier today, Adam announced the appointment of the new state PKR Youth chiefs.
Following the negotiation process with PKR Youth leaders at the branch level as well as the PKR state chiefs, he said they have finalised the new appointments.
The new PKR Youth state chiefs are as follows:
1. Raskhairulimran Raszali (Perlis)
2. Mohammed Taufiq Johari (Kedah)
